Fav Icon? What It Is and How to Create One

If you have a web page and check your web site statistics, you may have seen favicon.ico in your error logs and wondered what it was. This can happen when people come to your web site and bookmark your site using Internet Explorer 5.0 and above or Linux?s Konqueror Web Browser. These browsers look for a custom icon to place next to the bookmark and if there isn?t one, the server may report this as an error in your error log. (Currently, Netscape does not recognize favicons.)

So what is a favicon (favorite icon)? It's that little icon next to a bookmark or address.


Now you can create your own custom logo and place it on your web site so when people go to your site or look at their bookmarks, they will be drawn to your awesome logo! And if you want, you can even make different icons for your different pages.
